Linen is 2 or 3 times stronger than cotton. It's highly absorbent and conducts heat away from the body.
When processed, in it's flax form, there are two end products, the long silky filaments used for luxury items, or for garments and the toe, short, rougher fibre.
My initial attempts at spinning this linen was filled with frustration - until I figured out that I was working with the toe. Not having worked with linen before, this was a good lesson to learn.
Here's the trick that I figured out and was able to spin this fibre with ease; before you start to spin, fan out the fibres.
